deciduous plant
Plants that loose their leaves each season to protect themselves from cold or drought.Examples of deciduous trees: Temperate climate: oak, ash, maple; Sub-tropical and tropical climate: eucalyptus, acacia, baobab. Deciduous plants are long-lived plants that lose their leaves seasonally. The term is usually applied to trees. (By contrast, evergreen plants (such as conifers) keep their leaves throughout the year.)
