REFLECTIVITY
A measure of the process by which a surface can turn back a portion of incident radiation into the medium through which the radiation approached. It also refers to the degree by which precipitation is able to reflect a radar beam. Related term: albedo
Radar term referring to the ability of a radar target to return energy; used to derive echo intensity, and to estimate precipitation intensity and rainfall rates. See dBZ VIP .
