foehn wind
This is a dry warm wind that blows from mountains. It is caused as winds blow across mountains and then descend. The name foehn is given to the warn winds that blow over the European Alps. The chinook is the name for a similar wind that blows down the eastern slopes of the North American Rocky Mountains.
