| Definition Of: |
deep convection
When moist air is lifted in a potentially unstable atmosphere, there is energy available (CAPE) for the air to rise to its level of neutral buoyancy, usually somewhere in the upper troposphere. This lifting and the unstable atmosphere result in clouds, precipitation, and deep towering convective cells.
