is) uses computers to combine remote sensing data with other information (e.g., topographic, political, cultural, economic, ground truth). In essence, a G:is :is a way of managing Earth science data to bring out geographical interrelationships. Geosphere refers to the physical elements of the Earth's surface, crust and interior. Geostationary or geosynchronous describes an orbit in which a satellite :is always in the same position with respect to the Earth. The satellite travels around the Earth, in the same direction and at the same speed as the Earth's rotation, completing one orbit in a 24-hour period. All geostationary satellites are directly above Earth's equator and are at the same altitude.
