Ferrel Cell
Indirect meridional cell that is poleward of the tropical Hadley circulation in zonally averaged observations. The equatorward sinking branch is representative of the air motions in the subtropical highs. The poleward and ascending branch corresponds to the stormy region of the polar jet stream.
